The last four days of my summer Study Abroad Program in Mona, Jamaica left me and every MSU participant without running water in the entire city. We walked two miles to access a reservoir. We bathed using buckets and water bottles. We roasted in the Caribbean heat. We complained.
It was the best experience of my life.
This experience and others like it have shaped my worldview and helped me to gain a much better appreciation for the world we live in. Some may say "too hot" or "too cold" when they turn on their shower faucets in the morning. I just say thank you for even being there.
In my life, each page I turn is a new journey. Sometimes that page is in the latest urban fantasy novel, sometimes its in my passport...but most of the time my journey begins with a blank page and a pencil.
...to the Irish Cliffs of Moher
...and the streets of Paris.
I like to read, write, meet new people, travel to new lands, and experience new and foreign cultures. My academic career has taken me all over the world, and I'm always looking for that next adventure.
